Each year, we offer a variety of mission opportunities locally, nationally, and internationally. We share our gifts and strengths with Women's Day Shelter, Atlanta Community Food Bank, Norcross Cooperative Ministries,
United Methodist Children's Home and many others. In addition to these, we offer
two mission trips every summer to Copper Hill, TN and Honduras.
Local
We are constantly trying to help those around us by giving back to the community the many blessings that God has given us.
This year, we have offered help to MUST Ministries, Atlanta Community Food Bank,
United Methodist Children's Home, Trinity Soup Kitchen, ReChrist Ministries,
Church on the Street, Norcross Cooperative Ministries and many more.
Honduras
We returned to Honduras once again for two
separate trips. Our first team works with an organization called
Honduras Outreach
International and travels to Rancho El Paraiso in the Agalta
Valley to work with the people in the local villages.
We work construction and provide VBS in the communities.
Our second team is coordinated in conjunction with the North
Georgia/North Coast Mission Teams run through First UMC of
Lawrenceville. This team travels to the coast of Honduras to work in
and around the village of El Pino (near La Ceiba) and on the island of
Roatan. The cost to attend these trips is approximately $1600 and
fundraising opportunities are available throughout the year. For more information regarding these
trips, please contact
Laurie
Willing.
Copper Hill, Tennessee
Each summer, we take all of our youth to work with an organization called
Team Effort.
We provide assistance to the people in various areas. This
summer, we will be going to Copper Hill, TN to work with families and
churches. The cost for this trip is $399. For more information regarding this trip, please contact
Matt Parker.
Spring Break Mission Trip
Each year during Spring Break, we choose a
location that is in need and offer assistance. We have served in
Jacksonville, FL and Slidell, LA during the last few years. This
is a wonderful opportunity for our youth to participate in missions in a
smaller group setting. This spring, we will be visiting Pensacola, FL.
Cost is TBD. For more information regarding this trip, please contact
Matt Parker.
Fundraising
To be able to provide financial assistance for these mission opportunities we host fundraisers throughout the year. One of our big ones
is the Youth Dinner and Talent Show for the community. We also do smaller fundraisers around the church such as bake sales, car washes, and dinners. All proceeds from our fundraisers go to missions.
Youth Dinner and
Talent Show
We are always striving to provide at least one large fundraiser that
incorporates all of our youth. Over the last few years, we have
had the Pumpkin Patch and Church Garage Sales. This year, we
will once again host a Youth Dinner and Talent Show (Talentpalooza) on
January 23, 2010. Our
goal for each of these fundraisers is to collect approximately $5000 to
help offset the cost of our summer and spring break mission trips.
In addition to our large fundraiser, we also strive to provide many
opportunities to raise funds for mission trips and retreats. For more information, please contact
Laurie Willing.
