On
Sunday night, February 28, Laurie Willing will be leading a Real World Parents
workshop at Simpsonwood UMC from 5:00-8:00 PM. Laurie has worked in youth
ministry for over 20 years. Parents all over the country have expressed an
urgent need for help in navigating the complex issues they face in trying to
raise Godly children. This 3-hour workshop gives parents the Biblical
principles and practical tools they need now.
The Real World Parents workshop is designed
for children of any age, no matter where their family is on their spiritual
journey. The workshop was designed by Mark Matlock, a nationally known speaker,
author and founder of Wisdom Works Ministries. The workshop provides parents
with:
-
Realistic,
practical next steps, not cheesy ideas that teenagers will roll their eyes at
-
Help
understanding what is really happening in our culture by looking at the latest
statistics and what they mean
-
A deeper look at
the Biblical principles of parenting, and how to apply them
-
How to build
trust, independence, proper boundaries and wise decision-making
-
Ideas for how
families can integrate faith into their everyday lives
-
Vision of how
God wants to use each family to bring His love and generosity to their
neighborhood
The workshop costs $10 per person or
$15/couple and includes a notebook for each person. We will serve a light dinner
for parents and their youth at 5:00 p.m. $3/person. For more information on Real
